What’s The #1 Worst Thing You Can Possibly Do on Facebook?
Connection Anyone?
Lead with your primary business. Don’t do it!!!! I know you’re excited, but you’ve got to establish yourself first.
I only do business with people that I know and trust. Would you buy pharmaceutical drugs from a drug dealer on the street? Or would you buy them from a pharmacist that you were familiar with?
You see, there are many people out here in cyberspace that think they can just throw a poorly copy written email together and spam it out to their “friends”.
Not good folks. The reason we go to social media sites is to meet people to get information. FREE information at that.
Professional network marketers are there to recuit for their opportunities. Not to hear about yours. Can you see how that would annoy people?
What to Do Instead
You need to CONNECT with people. Introduce yourself for goodness sakes. Let people know that you’re not just some drone network marketer that’s looking to get rich quick.
A tip that’s been floating around is to use their name in a personal greeting when meeting for the first time. GASP. Big secret there right?
Here’s something that I do. When someone introduces themselves with a sincer introduction, I will open up their Facebook profile and click through some of their links.
After I learn a little bit about who they are you can feel more bonded to them. Don’t ask them questions that their blogs, youTube channel, Facebook group or profile will already answer.
You’ll leave a better impression if you can connect with them on another level other than just Facebook. A face to face interaction is the most ideal when meeting people, but with the leverage of technology, you can get to know people on your own terms. You can learn what you want about people and use it to connect with them.
Hopefully, the connection you’ve made is related to helping each other in some way. Maybe you can both comment on eachothers blogs. Invite eachothers friends to your group pages. Or maybe you can have a good old fashion friendship. GASP. You can be friends too? Absolutly!!
Rember, friends don’t let friends lead with their primary opportunity.
More Tricks of The Trade
Simply adding someone to your ‘friends’ lists isn’t marketing. Marketing yourself goes beyond becoming just adding people to a list. As a leader you need to remember to stay in contact with them.
If you’ve started a Facebook group, you need to invite them to your group so that they can continue to receive the content that you’re providing to the community.
Facebook is the #2 most visited website to date. They will come back to Facebook, so you’ve got to keep things fresh. I’ve been receiving a lot of group newsletters and many of them are not very ‘fresh’. They’re all pitching the same things.
Conceptually this is correct, however, they are failing to differentiate themselves from the pack. You can read more about differentiation here.
Make your new Facebook friends feel special by inviting them to a ‘webinar that solves their problems’. Don’t forget that they’re looking for a leader to give them answers.
Go beyond social media and call them. You’ve got to stand out from the crowd. But one caveat on this is that you’ve got to make sure that you have connected with them first. And don’t pitch your dang opportunity. Be genuine and try to help them.
Make sure you follow up with them regarding their progress. Offer to show them a new way to market online besides Facebook. If you’re an article marketing expert, help them do that. Or maybe you’re a Pay-Per-Click specialist. Help them save money.
The point is to provide a reason for people to come to you for advice and answers. That’s the connection they wanted when they first met you. First impressions are very important especially when you’re on the phone.

Yeah, I have had that problem, where I enjoy the post, but I have no experience with the subject, . So when I have time I try to think of something to say and when I don’t I move along wishing I did.
