When Avon founder David H. McConnell discovered the reason why people were buying from him he discovered a marketing principle that holds true to this day. What did he discover you ask? He traded something of value for FREE to his customers. This led to a back end sale for the books that he was selling.
Over the next couple of paragraphs I’m going to outline for you several tips for success based on the “value exchange” marketing principle. If you grasp this principle and apply it properly to your Avon representatives site, you will revolutionize the way you think about Avon forever.
FREE is ALWAYS The Best Price
What McConnell was doing was giving away perfume for free to his potential customers. By doing this, it reduced the natural resistance of that people build up when someone they don’t trust initially is trying to sell them something. Every person is different, but most people form a barrier when they don’t trust someone, especially sales people they don’t trust. However, if they perceive you as someone who can provide something of value to them, most psychological barriers will come down.
Value Given must Be Greater than Value Received
By continuing value exchange with EVERY lead that you have, you will start to create a buzz surrounding who you are and what you have to offer. If the value you are exchanging is greater than what you’re asking from them, you will see more success in your Avon business. For instance, if you have a new product you may want to provide that new contact with that product in exchange for a meeting with them. When they agree, it will be clear that the product you gave them was worth more to them than the meeting with you.
Generate Leads from Previous Customers
Offer your current customers an incentive, or something of value, for more leads. Let’s use free perfume for example. You can offer your current clients free perfume if they refer 5 or more people to you who would be interested in Avon.
The secret here is that you must make sure that the perfume has a value to them that is greater than the 5 names, addresses and phone numbers that they provide. It is worth noting here again that the value exchange must always be greater for them. Yes, I know I sound like a broken record, but if you’re giving someone a cheap product that no one really wants, what’s the point right?
Take Advantage of Your Avon Representative Website
As you probably know by now you have a replicated Avon representative website. You need to take advantage of this valueable resource by driving traffic to that website. Put your web address on EVERYTHING. But your web address on all of your flyers, business cards, email signatures, etc. The theme of this post is the value exchange principle, so try offering a promotion for just visiting the website.
Once your visitors visit your site you can upsell them once they arrive at the website. You may have to get creative here because you may not have full control over the website. An idea could be to have your customers email you for special giveaways for purchasing certain items.
The secret is to make sure that they keep coming back. You have to make sure that all customers and clients are aware of every promotion, discounts, coupons, and most importantly new products that Avon is offering. If you are using the “value exchange” principle correctly, then they will keep coming back.
By using the value exchange principle, you will have endless traffic to your website day AND night. Imagine making money while you slept!! That’s the power of the internet and technology. The secret to making money online is understanding leverage. Leverage in conjunction with a system is the most ideal situation.

Fantastic post. I am very fond of the design of your website, is this a template thats freely avaliable? I’m keen to start my own site up before long so i’m looking into the various choices! Should I use Wordpress or Blogengine? Any feedback would be very much appreciated. Thanks.
Robert,
Use WP. It will definitely rank much more quickly.
